Tony Ayres quickly gained attention upon graduating from film school with a succession of internationally awarded television drama scripts. He was equally successful as a writer/director of documentary, again winning major international awards for his work. His feature debut, Walking on Water, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2002, and went on to collect a swag of awards including the prestigious Teddy Award for Best Gay/Lesbian Film at Berlin and five accolades at the AFI Awards, Australia's equivalent of the Independent Spirit Awards. Ayres' next feature as writer/director, The Home Song Stories, starring Joan Chen (The Last Emperor, Heaven & Earth) has earned Tony the following awards: the AFI Award for Best Direction and Best Screenplay (Original or Adapted), the FCCA Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay, the Golden Horse Film Festival Award for Best Original Screenplay, Best Feature Film at the Hawaii International Film Festival, and the IF Award for Best Director. Ayres is currently working as producer on the ABC TV series Bogan Pride.
Recently featured in Kenny Ortega's "Dancing Across America," Tony Azzaro is a trained actor & dancer who has been involved in various on stage and on-camera productions throughout his career. He has also put his BA in Production to use by working both on and off camera for various commercial campaigns, creating UGC for digital media. Born Anthony C. Baker in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tony and his family quickly moved back to the city of Chicago where he was raised on the south side. His passion for film started at a very early age and stayed with him throughout his life. While attending New Mexico State University his creative ideas were brought to the forefront while writing and directing films with his colleagues just for the love of it. His comedic skills developed while hosting pageants, talent shows, and fund-raising events on the NMSU campus. His love for theater developed when he made his stage debut in the University production of "Of Mice & Men" in which he received his first acting award.
