Steve is a screenwriter, director, producer and actor. A graduate of Australia's top film schools AFTRS and VCA, Steve also holds a research PhD in screenwriting from Macquarie University. His debut feature film as director, Blackrock, premiered at Sundance, was nominated for 5 AFI Awards including Best Film and won Australian Writer's Guild Awards for Best Screenplay Adaptation & Best Script in any category. His original mini-series A Difficult Woman, co-written for the ABC with Nicholas Hammond, won the Silver World Medal for best mini-series at the New York Festivals. Steve has written for one hour and half hour television, and has had a number of feature film screenplays optioned. Steve has also worked as a development executive, script assessor and consultant for NSWFTO, AFC, and Screen Australia as well as independently. He has lectured in screenwriting at AFTRS, Macquarie University and Tisch NYU Asia. Most recently he wrote and directed the film Standing Up For Sunny starring RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad) Radha Mitchell (Olympus Has Fallen) and Sam Reid (Prime Suspect). The film premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and won the 2020 Australian Academy of Cinema & Television (AACTA) Award for Best Indie Film.
